Traditional Hawaiian Lomilomi is based on an ancient art of healing, a holistic approach to wellness. The practitioner incorporates prayer (Pule), and forgiveness (Ho'oponopono) for him/herself before the massage session begins, followed by a combination of flowing massage strokes that are loving in their nature. This approach has positive intentions and allows the individual to rest and heal from daily stressors and injuries.
Pohaku, Hawaiian Healing Stone Therapy consist of hot and cold applications. Through the local or systemic application of heat, the body can increase the circulation of fluids to enrich the tissues with oxygen and vital nutrients. Through the application of cold the body can produce a vascular pumping mechanism which will aid in the draining of excess fluids from the area and aid in the flushing of toxins to be eliminated. These methods combined with Hawaiian Lomilomi as well as Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage can increase the effectiveness of the therapy session.
Therapeutic Massage uses an eclectic approach in which the therapist combines a variety of modalities and techniques to achieve results based on the assessment of the client. Various modalites utilized may be Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Massage, Trigger Point Release, Myofascial Release, Reiki, and/or HealingTouch.
Pregnancy Massage is a form of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes. Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, Pregnancy Massage helps alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into the feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
Reiki and Healing Touch are forms of energy healing that cleanses and balances the energy patterns in the body. As a result, the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum mental, emotional, and physical health.
During a session, I work in energetic connection with you in order to remove blockages, detoxify your energy system, and restore your vital life force energy. The techniques utilize a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.
Medical Massage differs from regular Massage and Bodywork in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions diagnosed by a medical doctor. I may use a variety of modalities or techniques during the treatment, but I focus the treatment only on the specific areas of the body related to the diagnosis. This enhances the body’s natural self-healing process and reduces the needed recovery time from injury.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.
